An Endless Topic

Dear Friends,

There's many things I want to blog about, whether it is interesting is another question. Ranting about work isn't interesting plus only annoys the writer, in that case, me! Most importantly, there are no jobs which doesn't have it's up and down. The working environment is organic, changing according to the people working there. This is why I came around to believe that it's not the job responsibilities and duties which keeps the employee, it is in fact the culture. Thus, one position within a company will differ from another company so take advantage of the probation period - observe and listen.

I've worked in the jewellery/ retail industry for a while and I really enjoy it, but when you are no more than a body to cover lunches. It feels very undervalued, I am Sue-Shine, not any X, Y, Z who decided to show up at your store.

I understand that it sounds very petty of me for wanting to feel appreciated. How long would you stay in any organisation if you were treated like you were no more than a pair of extra hands?

Culture of an organisation, leadership, rewards, is an endless discussion. It's also a very interesting one. So far, my (very little) experience of the film industry has been enjoyable. I have never been on a project from beginning to the end, usually just random days or weeks, regardless, the Director has still managed to speak to me and thank me. It's a very kind gesture.

What I am trying to say is look beyond money. Finding a place which motivates you is far more satisfying and in the long run it will benefit your mental health. Obviously, the ideal is to have the both and if it's possible go for it!

Eyes are so itchy! I can't see!!!
