Banter

Dear Gift of Gab,

It all started like you were interviewing each other - what do you do? What are you interested? All that is missing is a CV (resume) and filled application. When you eventually suss out that one common ground, the awkwardness is gone and the banter begins.

Unfortunately, I lost a friend (lost is probably too strong a word but you get the picture) due to the lack of banter we had. It was gone like we didn't know how to talk to each other. It went to the point of interviewing each other and we both thought it was stupid as we have known each other for 8 years. (And I know time means pretty much nothing). The banter just died because she thought the conversation was all moo~ and it was pointless. But that is banter, you don't actually remember what has been said. What do you want the conversation to entail? The economic downfall or globalisation? There were other issues but let's not get into that.

It probably never occurred how important banter is. It all made sense when I started working in this foreign country (I give up with this seed analogy, I don't even get it anymore). There's only maybe 8 people in the company and everyday there's tension. I, now, find it entertaining to see the fire attacking thunder, and the lightning attacking the air. Turns out that no one really talk to each other, no one actually took the time to know each other - only just learned the facts if they could be bothered - everybody is too busy in telling their own story that no one is listening.

Meetings are interesting. Simply because no one is reading from the same book nevermind the same page. And it's all because everyone don't know how to talk to each other - possibly a problem because of the different culture and backgrounds but at the end of the day banter exists everywhere, it's just a matter of time in finding the one that fits the environment. The obvious thing is to ask questions, clarifying what has been said, turns out "there is such thing as asking stupid questions"... let's just leave it at that.

My essay now ends as to why communication is important. Action doesn't speak louder than words, if the other line has already changed dialing code no matter how many times you dial that number it's just not the same. I guess that's the fact of life, you lose some, you gain some so just enjoy every moment.

Talkative me!
