Birthday!

Dear Sue-Shine,

Today is my birthday. During my childhood, my family never really celebrated it perhaps it's the Asian way of perspective where my children are my investment and expected to repay back, or too busy raking money to care. (Heavy assumption and possibly generalising but I guess everything is really generalisation - you gather the comments and report the common points. Generalisation).

For the past two years, I've became a little lazy and just had people round for DVD and pizza. It's very mellow. Nothing too chaotic. Although last year was pretty interesting with the mix of people and the 5 layered cake where each layer is a different colours - orange, green, yellow, blue and pink. I call it "Alice and Wonderland" because of the colours and the size, it was like the cakes in the take party scene. I also made people to come with their PJs and Stefanfan, you were the most awesome by wearing my strappy PJ. You owned the floor.

So now this year, the cake request was "must have a cupcake" and since it was a joint with my sister, her request was "solid colours". And Raisha came with this square, dark teal coloured cake with a mushroom, an attempt of the ManHatter (it really looks like Joker or scary frostman) and mini cupcakes surrounding it. Well, there's solid colours and there's mini cupcake... no no no... the mushroom was a cupcake. Awesome. Then this year, the dress code was "no jeans and must have a bow". Again, the winner goes to Stefanan with the pink bow headband and shorts. Rachel did well but remember it's how you interpret it, for example, I had bow earrings, Raisha had a dress where you tie a bow at the back. It's all very valid. Think outside the box.

I must say, thank you for participating in these silly dress codes, making the effort makes it so much more fun. For my next birthday I want to play basketball (the Sue Rules) at night but it's probably too cold for that so I may do a gathering nearer summer and then go abroad for celebrating my birthday. Something different.

This year, I'm actually working on my birthday it sounds a bit rubbish but to be honest, it's really just any other day, it's how you make of it. Everyday could be my birthday!!! LOL!

Just wanted to say, it's always worth the effort so put it in.

To health and happiness! xxx
